I had the privilege of working for the wonderful Isabel Spearman at this fabulous event. The Daily Dress Edit Pop Up started life as an Instagram account where Isabel would champion brands by highlighting a beautiful dress from them for her followers to discover and admire. From here the Pop Up was born and is the hugely exciting event it is. I am lucky enough to work with a great team led by Isabel and every day we meet women who have come to buy the dress of their dreams (they pretty much always find it!). For me the best part of being a personal stylist is helping people find something that they would not normally choose for themselves. I love the fact that a great dress can make someone feel so confident it can change their entire mood and the way they leave the house feeling.
It is a huge undertaking and is 6 months in the planning and searching for the fabulous frocks to be included in The Daily Dress Edit Pop Up. All the brands are small and make a limited amount of their dresses so you can rest assured if buying for a special event that you won’t bump into someone else in the same dress. This year we had a huge array of different styles from stripy linen by The Kindred to flowery cotton by Dilly Grey and even an amazing silk cotton chequerboard one from Lisou. There were 55 different brands to look at and every colour under the rainbow. The size range is great too and we are on hand to advise and guide if any help is needed by our lovely customers. We have short and midi length as well as a few maxis so that whatever height you are we can find something to suit you.
This year we had the deadstock dresses as well which had all been collaborated on by Isabel with the larger brands including Boden, Albaray, Jigsaw, Cefinn, Aligne and Rixo. These dresses were all created from existing fabric and sold at a great price point. They were hugely popular with the Aligne denim dress being loved by everyone who tried it on due to the clever use of the asymmetric hem and giant pockets, who doesn’t love a pocket.
The venue this year was Nine Elms in Battersea with the incredible space being created by Bevan Roper Projects in the most fabulous green courtesy of Edward Bulmer Invisible Green paint. The interior was amazing and loved by all who visited, there are many photos on Instagram if you want to look. It was a wonderful place to work for the two weeks and everyone who visited said it was great fun and a great experience. Many of our customers commented on how great it was to have so many dress brands in one place and how much easier it was than trawling the shops trying to find just one dress!
The best part about The Daily Dress Edit Pop Up was seeing our lovely ladies leave having found the perfect dress for them. It really is the best place to work and judging by the reactions of our customers it is also a pretty great day out for them. Until next year and more fabulous dresses…
